Wedding Keepsake Portrait Illustration

I have been making minimalist portraits and have fallen in love with the process and final art result. I knew I had to make one as part of my gift for my cousin's wedding. An illustration portrait would make the perfect gift and wedding keepsake.
To make them, I illustrate these portraits digitally using a photo as a guide. Then I adjust the colors and add text to further customize the piece.
I needed to get the bride and groom's pictures so I could get started on their portrait. Naturally, I did what any red-blooded, smartphone-using human would do, I stalked their social feed. Getting lost in the rabbit hole of Facebook, I learned about their love story and found the images that I needed along the way.

I learned the bride had children and they recently adopted a puppy. Photos of my cousin, proudly posed next to three dressed-up little girls at a daddy-daughter dance, A Disney vacation trip complete with kid trip reveal, and matching family shirts. A strawberry-haired toddler playing with the new puppy. A teenage brother posing next to his little sisters., A family far before this couple said, "I do".
They got legally married on 2.2.22, after a snowstorm, knee-deep in white fresh snow. Dressed in purples, a clue of a color the bride must like. Using 5 photos total and I got to work. This bride and groom portrait turned family portrait.

Congratulations A&K! I am so happy you loved the portrait as much as I loved making it! Learning about your story and creating this art for you was so special for me.
With all my love,
Sandra M.
